Students create charcoal face portraits. Students use grids to enlarge photographs. Using the techniques they learn in class, students demonstrate the power of darks and lights to create form and shape.
Students learned the history of triptychs as an art form and the newest graphic design story board techniques. Triptychs consist of three separate illustration boards. Each board is an individual illustration that is part of a 3-part story presented through the triptych. Students used x acto knives to cut out foreground and place colored paper behind the cut paper.
Students create a color grid with their own individual design. They must create a grid using 16 squares. Each square represents a color on the color wheel. For instance, red, red-orange, green, green-blue, etc. Students learn how to mix and apply tints and shades using paint.
